Bud Brannigan graduated from the University of Queensland in 1985 and has led his own design studio since 1993. In 1994 Brannigan’s Fifth Avenue Residence (1993) received the prestigious national Robin Boyd Award for residential architecture from the Australian Institute of Architects. This recognition established the practice’s strong reputation for rationally planned, environmentally responsive house designs which also displayed innovative responses to local traditions, materials and construction techniques. Over the last decade, Bud Brannigan Architects has increasingly specialised in larger-scale public projects, particularly cultural facilities and university buildings in both Brisbane and regional Queensland.
