Arkhefield
The Brisbane-based architectural and interior design practice Arkhefield was established in 1991 by directors Andrew Gutteridge and Justin O’Neill. Shaun Lockyer joined the firm as a senior design architect in 2001 and was appointed Director in 2005. The three directors are supported by seven associates and 35 staff. Arkhefield’s designs typically derive from a desire to respond to and retain the natural, unadorned character of available materials. This desire for material integrity is modernist in its inception and embraces a pragmatic rationale rather than an aspirational materialism.
